Gundam CHAR'S COUNTERATTACK

A brief outline of Char's Counterattack

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack is a feature-length film set in the Universal Century timeline (U.C. 0093), marking the climactic conclusion of the rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable that began in the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. Directed by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino, the film delves into themes of revenge, redemption, and humanity's future.

The story unfolds as Char Aznable, now the leader of the Neo Zeon movement, seeks to force humanity's migration into space by dropping asteroids onto Earth, believing it will lead to humanity's evolution into Newtypes. Amuro Ray, a seasoned pilot and Earth Federation Forces (EFF) member, opposes Char's radical plan and is determined to stop him.

Both pilots command powerful new mobile suits: Amuro pilots the RX-93 ν Gundam, a highly advanced and heavily armed suit equipped with a revolutionary psycho-frame system that allows Newtype pilots to control the mobile suit using their thoughts. Char commands the MSN-04 Sazabi, an intimidating and agile suit designed for close combat and equipped with powerful ranged weapons.

The film introduces a range of new characters, such as Quess Paraya, a young Newtype girl whose loyalty and affections shift between Amuro and Char, and Hathaway Noa, the conflicted son of Bright Noa. The character dynamics and their relationships with Amuro and Char add depth to the story, highlighting the personal stakes involved in the conflict.

Char's Counterattack features a variety of iconic mobile suits from both the Neo Zeon and the EFF. Notable Neo Zeon suits include the AMS-119 Geara Doga and the NZ-333 α Azieru, a massive mobile armor with overwhelming firepower. On the EFF side, the RGZ-91 Re-GZ and the RGM-89 Jegan make their debut, showcasing the latest advancements in mobile suit technology.

Aesthetics and kits to look out for

The conclusion to Char's and Amuro's rivalry features sleek designs paying homage to the original suits without letting them hold the new suits back. This is further showcased in Beltorchika's Children, an OVA of Char's Counterattack where the fan favourite Hi-Nu appears.
For those looking for some of the most aesthetically pleasant suits in Gundam, CCA offers them the Sazabi. For those looking for terrifying presence, the Nu's are available. And all of this with some of Bandai's best engineering.

Some of the kits to look out for, in ascending order of complexity and descending order of affordability, are
