When customizing a model kit there's a massive amount of techniques and/or tools we may use in order to express ourselves but one technique remains a foundation of any modification and that's painting, be it with a brush or an airbrush.
Both are perfectly fine to use on Gundam although each has some benefits over the other. When talking about an airbrush, it brings an easy way to achieve thin and uniform layers of paint, a fact that translates to clean-looking builds, which is essential for certain techniques such as the candy coating.

What to look for in an airbrush
Laying the details in broad strokes we get a list such as the one following
- The trigger can be single or dual action. A dual action trigger requires both pushing it in order for air to start flowing and then be pulled back, adjusting the flow of paint down the needle. A dual-action trigger airbrush is always prefered.
- The size of both needle and cap will determine which types of paints we can use and how thin the spray is.
- Airbrushes are fed paint either through suction, in which the paint flows upwards or gravity, where the paint flows downwards into the airbrush itself. In scale modeling, gravity fed are always prefered since they give a constant flow, removing sputtering or dry paint.
As a recommendation for those looking to get started with airbrushes and looking for an all-rounder airbrush we recommend the MADWORKS M-201. For those already experienced with this kind of tools or those who want the most premium of choices, we also offer airbrushes such as the Harder and Steenbeck or both MIG airbrushes.
